Boy killed after falling from JUTC bus

by June 15th, 2018

The St. Catherine South police say they are yet to determine how a boy fell from a Jamaica Urban Transit Company (JUTC) bus, and was killed after being run over, in Portmore, this morning (June 15).

The child’s identity has not been released.

Head of the St. Catherine South police Superintendent Clive Blair says about 7:50 a.m., the JUTC bus which plies the Christian Gardens to Half-Way-Tree route, came to a stop along the Gregory Park road, to pick up passengers.

Superintendent Blair says, reports indicate that all passengers boarded the vehicle, and as the bus began to move, one passenger – the boy- fell out of the bus.

The bus ran over the boy, while he was on the ground.

A passing motorist picked up the injured child and rushed him to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

The Caymanas police are investigating.

Meantime, the Jamaica Urban Transit Company has dispatched a team to probe the matter.

Corporate Communications Manager at the JUTC Cecil Thoms says the accident is regrettable.
