President of the Global Services Association of Jamaica, Gloria Henry, said the COVID pandemic has helped to improve Jamaica’s Business Process Outsourcing, BPO, sector.
Mrs. Henry said despite the pandemic, Jamaica’s BPO industry continues to grow at a rate of 6.5, to 8. 5 percent, annually.
She states that this is because, in times of economic difficulties, businesses look to BPOs as a way of helping them achieve cheaper costs for certain back-office processes.
She noted that the move by the government to designate the BPO sector as an essential service was a key element in the sector’s growth.
