An eleven year old girl who was visiting Jamaica with her family was allegedly sexually assaulted in a bathroom at a hotel in Ocho Rios, St. Ann, recently.

The report comes amid concerns raised in the international media about the number of sexual assault cases in hotels, against tourists visiting Jamaica.

In September, two women were allegedly raped by an entertainment coordinator at a hotel in St. James.

British High Commissioner to Jamaica Asif Ahmad told Irie FM News that the alleged perpetrator has been arrested.

In addition, the British High Commissioner says he is pleased with the manner in which the authorities handled the matter.

He says, the hotel took prompt action and reported the incident to the British High Commission, and the police.

Mr. Ahmad is also renewing his call for proper vetting of applicants before they are employed in resorts.
