Buju Banton explains NFTs and urges online followers to rule their destiny

by December 20th, 2021

Dancehall heavyweight Buju Banton is again using his social media platform to raise awareness about NFTs, the cryptographic tokens that represent a unique asset on the blockchain.

NFTs, or non-fungible tokens, are essentially digital assets, anything from jpegs to videos, that can be bought and sold. In other words, NFTs give us a way to have clear ownership over digital items.

In an Instagram video captioned, “Disclaimer: This is not Financial Advice, just an eye opener”, the Gargamel is encouraging his over 1.3 million followers to become rulers of their destiny, in this new and ever changing financial space.

Sean Paul, Kabaka Pyramid, and Etana are some of the Jamaican entertainers embracing the new NFT fad.
On November 28, Buju Banton shared his first NFT art called Crypto Rude boy.

Meanwhile, Migos’ Takeoff, through his new NFT platform, Apes In Space, announced the rapper is plotting a journey into space — and is looking to take one lucky person who owns an NFT with him.

Other celebrities such as Ja Rule, Lindsay Lohan, and Mark Cuban, as well as various brands, including the NBA, Louis Vuitton, and Formula 1, have all gotten in on the NFT craze.

Recently, the founder of Twitter, Jack Dorsey, sold his first-ever tweet as an NFT for over US$2.9 million.

Real money is being forked out for NFTs, and everyone from up-and-coming artists to megastars are getting into the market.
