Bus operator shot by police during confrontation in Spaulding

The police are probing a shooting incident in Spalding, Clarendon this morning (Feb 5).

The incident involved lawmen and a bus operator   which saw the bus man being shot.

Reports reaching to Irie FM News are that about 9:30 this morning, the bus operator was making his way through the town of Spalding, when he was accosted by a police team carrying out traffic management operations in the town.

It’s understood that an argument ensued between the police man and the bus operator and the cop pulled his firearm. The operator was allegedly shot by a colleague of the police man.

An alleged eyewitness recounts what happened.

Meanwhile, a strong contingent of police and soldiers was sent to the town to restore calm.

The police officer reportedly sought refuge in a supermarket, while a police vehicle was allegedly damaged in the melee.

In the meantime, the Independent Commission of Investigations (Indecom) has confirmed receiving reports of the shooting incident in Spaulding, Clarendon.

Assistant Commissioner of Indecom Hamish Campbell, says alleged witnesses have been telling Indecom what they saw.
