Capleton’s “A St. Mary Mi Come From” returns to the parish

by September 10th, 2019

Dancehall deejay Capleton is taking his annual event A St. Mary Mi Come From back to the parish.

The event was moved to Kingston in 2018 after its 2017 staging was flooded due to heavy rainfall. The move sparked chatter among some St. Mary residence who did not like that the event went outside the parish.

Listening to the concerns, Capleton is now taking the event back to his roots. The entertainer’s manager Claudette Kemp tells Music News that the event will be held on November 9 after the Coronation of Emperor Haile Selassie at its usual home at the Grays Inn Sports Complex.

A St Mary Mi Come From was first held in 2000 at Clements Park as a giving back event by Capleton to his parish. The dancehall deejay has continued the initiative making donations to several schools and hospitals in and outside the parish.
