by March 11th, 2022

Students of the College of Agriculture, Science and Education, CASE, in Portland were involved in a second day of protest on Friday to call for greater security at the institution.

The move follows Thursday’s protest after one of their peers was allegedly abducted.

It is reported that the student was on her way to class when she was abducted along the main road and taken to another section of the campus.

The school’s resident security team was alerted and the police were summoned.

A search team, consisting of students, staff and security officers, was mobilized, and the student was quickly found.

Speaking to Irie Fm news Vice President of the student council body Felecia Francis said the protest started at around 12 pm and concluded sometime after 3 pm.

She said the students are calling for a long term solution to improve the security of both campuses in the parish.

She said there are vulnerable points surrounding the campus that allows access to unscrupulous individuals.

She called on the member of parliament and other women to join the call citing the recent celebration of international women’s day.
