Cedella Marley has received the Chancellor’s Award for Excellence in Global leadership by the American Foundation of the University of the West Indies (AFUWI).

The Awards was held virtually for the first time in 24 years on Sunday (Feb 21) due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Among the honourees were Prime Minister of Barbados Mia Mottely, and American author Amanda Seales

Proceeds from the Gala 2021 will fund the scholarship program for students in need at the University of the West Indies.

AFUWI seeks to transform the lives of exceptionally talented young women and men who are in dire financial circumstances by providing access to higher education so they can break the cycle of generational poverty and make an economic impact in their local communities and throughout the Caribbean region.
