As freight costs continue to Skyrocket, Chief Executive Officer, CEO of the Grace Kennedy Group, Don Wehby is reiterating the call for more investments in Agriculture and Agro-Processing.

Speaking today (November 22) at Grace Kennedy’s Investor Briefing, Mr. Wehby noted that shipping costs have increased exponentially, since the start of the Covid pandemic.

He said Jamaica must become self reliant as it relates to the growing and processing of food products, if it is to avoid the resulting high commodity prices.

Senator Wehby said greater investments in agriculture would also serve to help reduce Jamaica’s growing import bill.
