Minister of National Security, Dr. Horace Chang, says shootings at gatherings, including parties, are becoming an emerging trend, which can only be prevented with the help of citizens.

His comments, come in light of Sunday evening’s shooting incident in Little London Westmoreland, which left two party promoters dead, and 5 other persons wounded.

The deceased have been identified as Shereece Murray and 31yearold Marshal Gayle, both of Little London .

Speaking in an interview with Irie Fm News, Dr. Chang stressed the role citizens play, in minimizing crime and violence.

He said, many citizens are aware of the locations of guns in the country, but are refusing to offer that information to the police.

The prime minister recently indicated plans to launch a national incentive campaign, aimed at finding illegal weapons in the country.

In addition to dissuading persons from dealing, trafficking, procuring, possessing and using illegal guns, a dedicated fund will be set up to support established channels of information-sharing, including greater support for the development of human intelligence sources.
