Chapter closes on the life of Captain Horace Burrell

President of the Jamaica Football Federation captain Horace Burrel is dead.

The captain who had been ill for some time died on Tuesday afternoon in the United States, he was 67 years old.

After being elected to office in 1994, Burrell was instrumental in leading the Reggae Boyz to the 1998 World Cup in France, making Jamaica the first English-speaking Caribbean country to qualify for the FIFA World Cup.

Burrell who was legend in his time gave his life to football development in Jamaica and the entire region. He served as Caribbean Football Union(CFU) president and at various levels in the world governing body of football FIFA.

This was Burrell speaking at an academic conference on international football regarding the hiring of coach Rene Simoes who led the Reggae Boyz to the 1998 World Cup.
