CHEC and NROCC to meet over bridge in East Central St Catherine

by May 18th, 2015

Member of Parliament for East Central St Catherine, Natalie Neita Headly, is expected to meet with China Harbour, and the National Road Operating and Construction Company, NROCC, concerning issues faced by her constituents.

Some fifty residents of Simon, Content, Bamboo, and Kensington in St Catherine, allegedly used their bodies to block the cross pen main road this morning, calling on the authorities, to provide a bridge for them to access the new highway being built by China Harbour.

The residents say there was a proposal for a foot bridge; however they want a bridge which allows for vehicular traffic.

Councillor for the Sligoville Division Dwight Burke says Mrs Neita Headley has called a community meeting slated for Wednesday with residents and representatives of CHEC and NROCC.

The meeting is slated for 2:00 pm.

Mr Burke outlines the issues affecting the residents.

When contacted, Communications Manager, for CHEC Americas, Jennifer Armond, says CHEC has heard the concerns of the residents, and will take the mater into discussions with NROCC.
