Children’s Advocate Dihanne Gordon Harrison is calling on parents to shift the cultural belief that a child can only be properly disciplined through physical beating.

Her comments come in the wake of the death of a four year old child, after it’s alleged he was beaten by his step-father.

The child has been identified as Nashaun Brown of Willowdene Through Way in Spanish Town, St. Catherine.

According to Mrs. Harrison, parents should think of different methods of correcting children when they misbehave.

She argues that physically beating a child instead of imposing alternative disciplinary methods can go wrong.
