Chinese national arrested for having fraud brand items

A Chinese national is in police custody following the seizure of several counterfeit items valued at approximately $10 m.

Head of Counter Terrorism and Organized Crime (CTOC), Assistant Commissioner of Police Fitz Bailey said the Chinese national, 37 year old Younsen Li was picked up during a raid in Montego Bay yesterday.

The police say the accused is the manager of a haberdashery in the second city.

ACP Bailey says the items confiscated include sneakers, slippers, bags, purses and hats.

ACP Bailey, who spoke at a press conference this afternoon, said the man is to appear in court on January 24 next year.

In the meantime, ACP Bailey also noted that lottery scamming paraphernalia was also found at another section of St. James.

And, speaking at the press conference, Assistant Commissioner of Police Victor Barrett gave pointers on how to identify counterfeit items.
