Chinese nationals charged in relation to counterfeit goods

Two Chinese nationals have been charged in relation to a large quantity of counterfeit items seized on Princess Street yesterday (Apl 4).

Members of the Counter-Terrorism and Organised Crime Investigation Branch and Jamaica Customs conducted an operation in Downtown Kingston.

Charged are forty-year-old Zhang Timpim of Lords Road, Kingston 5 and 32-year-old Yang Zhao of Halifax Avenue, Kingston 8.

Head of the Counter Terrorism and Organized Crime Investigation Branch Assistant Commissioner of Police, Fitz Bailey says the other 4 persons who were taken into custody yesterday, were processed and released today.

ACP Bailey says the men have been charged with unauthorized use of trade mark and use of the trademark act, misleading and deceptive conduct under the consumer protection act and possession of uncustomed goods under the customs act.

Both are to appear before the St. Andrew Parish Court on May 2.

They have been granted bail in sum of $400,000.00 each.

It is estimated that three to four hundred million dollars’ worth of counterfeit items were confiscated yesterday.

ACP Bailey says brands such as Addidas, Gucci, Nike, Puma, Facebook, Jordan, Luis Vuitton Converse All Stars, Micheal Khors, Lacoste, Chelsea and Jansport were seized.
