Chris Gayle explodes with massive century but West Indies fizzle against England

Despite a fantastic record breaking century from Jamaican explosive batsman Chris Gayle the West Indies went down by 29 runs to England in the fourth one Day International Grenada yesterday.

Gayle who blasted 162 off 79 balls, surpassed ten thousand one day international runs as the Windies chasing a gigantic 418 for 6, fought gallantly but fell at 389 in 48 overs.

Gayle who scored 14 sixes and 11 fours in his knock  also shared in crucial third wicket stand worth 176 with Darren Bravo who scored a half century 61 off 59 deliveries.

Carlos Brathwaite supported with an even 50 and Ashley Nurse made 43, against Adil Rashid who was the chief destroyer bagging 5 for 85 and mark Wood who snared 4 for 60.

Earlier England rushed to 418 for 8 from their allotted 50 overs after being asked to take first strike.

The innings included a world record 24 sixes.

Jos Butler led the way blasting 150 from 77 balls and he shared in a 204 run third wicket partnership with Captain Eoin Morgan who smashed 103.

This after an  opening  stand  of  100  between  Johnny  Bairstow  56  from 43  and Alex  Hales  82.

Carlos Brathwaite was the leading wicket taker among the carnage with 2 for 69 while Oshane Thomas got 2 for 84.

The fifth and final game in the five match series will be played on Saturday in st Lucia.
