Chris Gayle to play in South Africa’s T/20 Global League

Jamaican and West Indies batting super star Chris Gayle leads a cast of International players who have already signed up for cricket South Africa’s T/20 global league which bowls off in November.

Gayle will join marquee players such as former England batsman Kevin Pietersen, current England limited overs players Eoin Morgan and Jason Roy, and ex-international Brendon McCullum of New Zealand.

The new look league which is aimed at emulating the success of competitions such as the IPL and Australia’s Big Bash, replaces South Africa’s previous domestic T/20 tournament, the Ram Slam.

The competition will feature eight franchises based in the cities of, Cape Town, Durban, Johannesburg, Pretoria, Bloemfontein, Port Elizabeth, Stellenbosch and Benoni.

Almost 400 players from 10 countries have already confirmed their interest in being part of the draft which will be held on August 19.
