A preliminary report on the effects of the flooding in Clarendon is expected to be forwarded to the Local Government Ministry by tomorrow (Apl 25).
Large swathes of Clarendon were under water as a result of torrential rains which lashed the parish as well as sections of the island over the weekend.
Chairman of the Clarendon Municipal Corporation, and Mayor of May Pen Winston Maragh convened a meeting of the disaster committee this afternoon to obtain an update on the relief efforts so far.
Mr. Maragh says based on initial checks, there was wide scale damage to residential property and farm lands.
He says a team has been out surveying the extent of the disaster.
The May Pen Mayor says the solid waste management authority has been dispatching vehicles to deal with the garbage that has accumulated as a result of flood waters
In the meantime, he states that the municipal body has urged residents who are in need of immediate assistant to call the emergency operation centre number 986 2903.
