Clarendon police theorize that double murder is a reprisal

by June 10th, 2017

The Clarendon police are theorizing that yesterday’s double murder in the Monymusk housing scheme in Hayes is a reprisal shooting for a previous incident.

Those killed are 18-year-old Gary Chaplin otherwise called ‘Doopie’ of Raymond district, and 21-year-old Oscar Williams of Purina Way, Moneymusk Housing Scheme.

Head of the Clarendon Police Superintendent Vendolyn Cameron Powell says yesterday’s incident, as well as a triple murder on Thursday, and another killing earlier this week , are linked to the theft of animals.

Reports are that about 6:30 p.m., Chaplin and Williams were walking along the Moneymusk Housing Scheme Road when a car drove up and two men alighted and opened gun fire at them.

They received multiple gunshot wounds to their upper bodies.

The police were alerted and both men were taken to hospital where they were pronounced dead.

This follows a triple shooting incident in the parish on June 8, which left 19-year-old Shadwayne Watson, 29 year old Dermot Donaldson and 39 year old Eddie Richards, all of New Bowens, Hayes in the parish, dead.
