Classes at St. Ann’s Bay Infant take blended format, following recent fire

by June 27th, 2023

A mixture of online and face-to-face classes are taking place at the St. Ann’s Bay Infant School in St. Ann after fire destroyed a section of the institution last week.

The brain builder block at the school was destroyed by the blaze.

No one was injured.

Speaking to IRIE FM news this morning (June 27), President of the Jamaica Teacher’s Association La Sonja Harrison said the school has taken a staggered approach towards classes.

She said administrators have commenced talks with the Ministry of Education about the construction of a new block.

However, Mrs. Harrison said the project might not be ready for the upcoming school year.

She noted that the situation highlights the need for more Government-funding for school infrastructure.

Meantime, the fire brigade continues to investigate the cause of the fire.
