Cllr Kari Douglas apologises following incident at Bustamante Hospital

Councillor for the Trafalgar Division in South East St. Andrew, Kari Douglas, has issued an apology for her behaviour at the Bustmante Hospital for Children.

 

There was a standoff at the institution between a doctor and Ms. Douglas who was seeking treatment for her child, at the weekend.

 

In a statement today, Councillor Douglas notes that, as a public official, it is her responsibility to show decorum and exercise restraint.

 

She adds that, she wishes to unreservedly apologize for   her conduct.

 

She explains that, she entered the room occupied by the medic and stood in front of the door, while demanding answers about the deteriorating condition of her child.

 

But, Councillor Douglas maintains that, the physical engagement which occurred during the incident, was not initiated by her.

 

The Councillor is also calling for urgent action to be taken to reduce the waiting time, and improve professionalism and service delivery in the health sector.

 

Meanwhile, Councillor Douglas has Criticised a statement issued by the PNP oday, which indicates the party’s intention to investigate the matter, in a bid to determine a course of action.

 

Expressing curiosity, she notes that, there are more serious incidents involving party members, which the PNP has not investigated.
