by July 24th, 2021

Chief Medical Officer, CMO, Dr. Jacquiline Bisasor-Mckenzie, said Covid-19 patients who do not need to be at hospitals, will be discharged to create space for critical patients, should the country experience another surge in cases.

This follows recent statistics that indicate a rise in the infection rate, over the past few weeks.

Dr. Mckenzie said the discharging of persons will only be done as an emergency measure, should cases begin to peak.

The CMO said currently, general occupancy of beds is rising and this is expected to continue.

She noted that of the 5,000 hospital beds available, over 3,000 are currently occupied.

The CMO said should it reach the over 80 percent occupancy rate, the emergency measures will be implemented.
