Cabinet has approved a proposal from the Bank of Jamaica to discontinue the circulation of some coins.
Making the announcement at the Jamaica House media briefing this morning (Sept 13), Information Minister Senator Ruel Reid said the coins to be discontinued are the one cent, ten cent and 25 cent coins.
Mr. Reid disclosed that only one dollar, five dollar, ten dollar and twenty dollar coins would remain in circulation.
He adds that the date of this implementation will be communicated in short order.
