Commuters stranded in Morant Bay as taxi operators protest poor road conditions

Scores of commuters were left stranded in Morant Bay, St. Thomas this morning (September 5) as taxi operators protested about poor road conditions.

 

Acting Commander for the St Thomas police division, Deputy Superintendent of Police, Oneil Thompson said the roadblocks were mounted along the Lysons main road from around 3 AM.

He said the police have removed some of the debris from the roadways, but are facing difficulties from protestors who are remounting the roadblocks.

 

He said police presence is being maintained in the Amity Hall area where the protest has spread to.
