Conflicting reports from police and residents about fatal shooting in Clarendon

A fatal shooting incident in Baileys Heights, Clarendon yesterday has resulted in yet another case of conflicting claims by residents and police as to what happened.

Dead is 22 year old construction worker, Cleveland Baxter, otherwise called Dave, of Baileys Heights.

Head of the division Superintendent Vendolyn Cameron Powell told Irie FM News that Baxter was a known member of the Bucks Common gang, and had been listed as a person of interest in relation to various crimes.

Regarding yesterday’s shooting incident, Superintendent Cameron Powell said a team of officers was on operation in the baileys avenue area of bucks common, and were trying to arrest a citizen who resisted and pulled a weapon.

But, upset residents told Irie FM News yesterday that Baxter was shot and killed in cold blood.

In the meantime, some residents of Baileys Heights in Clarendon are claiming that they were assaulted by officers who were on operation in the community yesterday.

They also claim that 2 young children were assaulted.

Head of the Clarendon police Vendolyn Cameron Powell is urging the affected persons to make a formal report to the police and have the matter investigated.
