by November 11th, 2015

The Director of Public Prosecutions has ruled that two correctional officers be charged, in relation to the April 27, 2014 case, in which two prisoners escaped from the Horizon Remand Centre in Kingston.

They are 34-year-old Jason Parchment of Lecithin Avenue, Kingston 13 and 31-year-old Paul Clarke.

They are to appear in the Half Way Tree Resident Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday, November 17, to answer to charges of negligently permitting prisoners to escape.

18-year-old Casheem Peart, otherwise called ‘nine star’, of Church Lane District, St. Thomas and 22-year-old Omar Creary of August Town, Kingston 6, escaped from the facility about 11:25 a.m. by allegedly cutting through a window.

Peart is charged with murder while Creary was serving a life sentence. The men remain on the run.
