Could racism be at play as Raheem Sterling tries to open Football Academy in England ?

by December 20th, 2018

Jamaican and Manchester City star Raheem Sterling has expressed his frustration with Brent Council for their lack of support in his attempts to open a football academy in England.

Sterling, who hails from Marverly in Jamaica and who was raised by a single mother is interested in offering opportunities for disadvantaged children but he is now facing a road block?

However, Sterling who is constantly under attack by some members of the British media is still awaiting a response from Brent Council regarding whether his plans can come to reality, and also stated that he is disappointed that the council are trying to sell off an important part of his childhood in Brent Park.

Sterling vented his frustrations on Twitter: ‘@brentcouncil need to answer this! Why are my team continuously getting no response, when I’m trying to help the community (especially the kids)- whilst the council are still trying to sell off a key part of my childhood; Brent Park. Can someone answer this pls? @DawnButlerBrent’.

Last year Sterling gave his support to Brent’s ultimately successful bid to become London’s Borough of Culture in 2020.

This season the England International has been in excellent form, as evidenced by the fact that he has scored nine goals and provided six assists in 14 English Premier League appearances.

Last month he signed a new long-term contract with Defending Champions City that is set to run until the summer of 2023.
