Councillor for the Prospect Division in Portland, Wayne McKenzie is calling for more assistance for vendors affected by a fire at the Musgrave market yesterday (May 28).

The market was among 3 buildings affected by the early morning blaze on West Street in Port Antonio.

Member of Parliament for East Portland Ann-Marie Vaz has pledged to use her salary increase to assist the market vendors.

However, Councillor McKenzie wants more to be done for them.

He said a plan which was on the books to modernize the market should now be put into play.
