Court says Tesha Miller has case to answer

by November 27th, 2019

Supreme Court Judge Georgiana Fraser ruled today that Tesha Miller has a case to answer in respect to charges brought against him in connection with the 2008 murder of then Jamaica Urban Transit Company Chairman, Douglas Chambers.

Defence lawyer Bert Samuels had made a no case submission at the end of the prosecution’s case.

Miller is charged with being an accessory before and after the fact to Chambers’ murder.

Mr. Samuels said today that Miller will begin to give his defence when the trial resumes tomorrow in the Home Circuit Court.

The trial had an early adjournment today because one of the seven-member jury was not available for the afternoon sitting.

The main witness for the prosecution was a former member of the Spanish Town based Clansman gang.

The witness, who is now serving a prison sentence for murder, has specified that his main reason for testifying was to put an end to the crime and violence in Spanish Town, St. Catherine.

Chambers was gunned down near the gate of the JUTC depot in Spanish Town on June 27, 2008.

It is being alleged that miller gave the order for Chambers to be killed.
