The Health Ministry is reporting that the number of Covid-19 hospitalizations has increased to 215.

This is 5 more than the 210 reported yesterday (August 3).

Among the 215 patients, 34 are critically ill and 52 are moderately ill.

There were 23 new recoveries, pushing the tally to 47,101.

4,968 cases are active.

Meantime, 96 new Covid-19 cases were recorded yesterday, pushing the tally to 53,639.

Of the new cases 49 are females and 47 are males.

They range in age from 3 to 87 years.

The positivity rate is 13.5 per cent.

Kingston and St. Andrew recorded the highest number of cases with 37, followed by St. James with 14.

St. Thomas recorded no new case.

There were 4 new Covid-19 related deaths, pushing the toll to 1, 207.

The deceased are four males, one from Westmoreland aged 80 and three from Kingston and St. Andrew, two aged 66 and the other aged 73.
