Entertainment minister Olivia Grange has indicated that so far, the fund raising telethon has been going well, with millions of dollars already pledged.
The telethon is being used to raise some $10 m for medical equipment needed to fight the Coronavirus (Covid-19).
The fund-raising initiative, dubbed Telethon Jamaica: Together We Stand, is a joint effort of the ministries of entertainment, foreign affairs and health.
Ms. Grange gave an update earlier this afternoon on Irie FM’s Memories programme, with host Bob Clarke.
The six-hour live show is underway, with performances by some of Jamaica’s leading artistes.
Ms. Grange is encouraging persons to continue making donations, using Paymaster and other platforms.
