The Child Protection and Family Services Agency CPFSA has launched an investigation into a case of severe physical abuse of a four-year-old girl in Westmoreland.

The agency said its investigative team was made aware of the case on Thursday and is working with the police.

the CPSA said the child was taken to the hospital, and that the agency is awaiting the results of a medical examination.

State Minister in the Ministry of Youth Robert Nesta Morgan has reportedly taken a keen interest in the matter, having seen the gruesome images being circulated of numerous unhealed cuts and bruises on the young child’s body.

Mr. Morgan is appealing to parents to take steps to ensure the proper care and protection of their children.  He is also urging parents to always know where their children are and to choose substitute caregivers wisely.

Mr. Morgan is also calling on the police to make a thorough and speedy investigation into the matter.
