by March 24th, 2022

The Child Protection and Family Services Agency (CPFSA) will be sending representatives to The Excelsior High School today (March 24) to conduct counselling and other interventions, following a stabbing incident yesterday.

It has been reported that during a dispute between two Grade 11 boys, one of them was wounded.

He has since been admitted to hospital in serious but stable condition.

Reports are that shortly after 2 PM yesterday, just after classes were dismissed, the boys got into a fight.

A weapon was drawn and one child was stabbed in the hand, head and chest.

The police have launched a search for the alleged attacker.

It has been theorized that the dispute is gang-related.

The CPFSA said as per protocol for first responders, its representatives will accompany the police to the school to meet with school officials and students.

The Agency will also work alongside officials from the Education Ministry in providing counselling and support to the wounded student and his family.

Yesterday’s incident at Excelsior is the third of its kind in recent days.

A male student of the Papine High School was robbed of his cell phone and shot dead by the robber in Liguanea yesterday.

And a male student of the William Knibb High school was stabbed to death by a schoolmate, allegedly over a ring, on Monday.
