Former West Indies fast bowler curtly Ambrose has called Chris Gayle’s plans to back track on his retirement … as “utter nonsense”

The legendary Ambrose is urging the Jamaican and West Indies opener Gayle to bow out of world cricket at the end of the ICC cricket World cup in England and Wales.

The 39-year-old Gayle was expected to announce his retirement from international cricket following the ICC World Cup in England, but never followed through on those plans and instead targeted India’s tour of the West Indies as his final appearance.

Ambrose said given the amount of hours per day over five days for a test match Gayle who can barely last the full distance in an one day international would likely struggle in the longer format.

Despite scoring 7,214 test runs, which puts him eighth on the all-time list, and notching two triple centuries, Gayle has not made a test appearance for the West Indies since 2014.
