CXC says CAPE and CSEC examinations will be administered in original format

The Caribbean Examinations Ccouncil (CXC) has indicated that the Caribbean Advanced Proficiency Examination (CAPE) and the Caribbean Secondary Education Certificate (CSEC) examinations will be administered in their original format.

CXC said it will maintain the strategy of 100 percent SBA moderation across all centres, for all subjects in 2022.

The CAPE exams are scheduled for May 2 to June 10.

While CSEC exams are set for May 2 to June 3.

CXC said its has put concessions in place to support students in light of the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic.

For school based assessments, the reductions to requirements made in 2021, by as much as 50 percent in some subjects, were maintained.

For option to defer, the strategy has been extended for use any time prior to the administration of a subject.

Candidates will be able to defer to January or June 2023, whenever the subject is administered.

The CXC said it continues to work with regional ministries of education on its digital transformation strategy.

Efforts are being made to begin administering all paper 1 examinations electronically in 2023.
