Daily Covid-19 cases and hospitalizations continue to rise.

735 new cases were recorded yesterday (January 4), pushing the case count pass the 97,000 mark.

The tally is now 97,066.

Of the new cases 421 are females and 314 are males, they range in age from 25 days to 102 years.

All parishes recorded new cases, Kingston and St. Andrew had the highest with 436, followed by St. Catherine with 67.

The positivity rate is 34.3 per cent.

Meantime, 4 additional deaths have pushed the toll to 2,483.

The deceased are 2 males and 2 females aged 55, 66, 72 and 82, they lived in St. Catherine.

Their deaths occurred between September 12, last year and January 2, this year.

The Health Ministry says there was one coincidental death. 2 more deaths are now under investigation.

Hospitalizations have increased to 189.

21 patients are severely ill, 33 are moderately ill and 4 are critically ill.

Meantime, 83 more persons have recovered, pushing that tally to 66,147.
