by November 2nd, 2018

Would the content of “Black Hypocrisy” create the same impact locally and internationally had Spice not gone to the extreme?

While we contemplate, dancehall deejay Spice has once again proven that she is more than an artist.

The self-proclaimed queen of stage who sparked an online debate for weeks, today revealed that she never bleached her skin but used herself as an example to send a message about colourism that continues to affect the black community.

In a lengthy caption on Instagram, Spice explained that her action was not a publicity stunt but one that should be considered a fearless act executed to address an issue that has been swept under the rug.

The leading female dancehall deejay concluded with a quote from powerful song Black Hypocrisy, “Proud a mi colour, love mi pretty black skin, respect due to mi strong melanin.”

Distributed by Hapilos, Spice’s 19-track mixtape Captured is today available on all digital platforms. It currently sits in the number one position on the Reggae iTunes charts in both the UK and the US.
