Day two of Penn Relays belonged to Edwin Allen

Edwin Allen high captured their second championship of America title yesterday by romping to a record breaking victory in the high school girls 4×100 meters on yesterday’s second day of the 125th Penn relays in Philadelphia.

The quartet of Serena Cole, Kevona Davis, Tina Clayton and Tia Clayton on anchor sped to a mind boggling 43.61 seconds to tear apart their record of 43.94 set back in 2017.

Earlier the Frank field based school secured victory in the 4×800 meters and regain the title they last won seven years ago

The quartet of Jessica McLean, Kayan green, Nadine Rose and Rushana Dwyer won the girls 4×800 meters in 8 minutes 54.02 seconds.

The 4×400 metres girls event was won by Holmwood Technical. 

In the meantime former Excelsior High thrower Shanice Love won the College women discus championship.

Love representing Florida State University hurled 58.25 meters to win the event ahead of Ashley Anumba of Penn University 56.05 meters.

The first Championship of America race for Jamaican high schools comes up this afternoon at 1:04 pm Jamaica time, it features Kingston College coming in with thefastest time of 41.04 seconds, in the 4×100 metres.

They are joined in the final by defending champions, Calabar, along with Jamaica College, St Jago, Wolmers, and Ruseas.

Defending champions Calabar along with Kc, and Jc are the Jamaican schools down for the 4×800 metres Championship of America race at 3 o’ clock.

This will be followed by the 4×400 meters Championship race at 4:45 .
