Deputy Commissioner of Police, Fitz Bailey, is calling on the church, to help to deal with what he says, is a spirit of darkness, which is fueling Jamaica’s crime problem.

Since the start of the year, some 1,250 people have been murdered, in the country.

In the past week, several people were killed, including two members of the Jamaica Constabulary Force, JCF and social media personality, Aneka Townsend, popularly known as “Slickiana”.

Speaking at the Lasco/JCF saluting our heroes and chairman’s award, Church service, at the  Webster, Memorial United Church, in Kingston, on Sunday morning, DCP Bailey bemoaned the level of crime in Jamaica.

He condemned the murder of Corporal Oliver Mullings, and constable Brian Martin, who were killed days apart.

DCP Bailey said, he believes the church has the capacity, to help in fighting crime, on a spiritual level.
