by November 8th, 2019

An application for leave to go to the Judicial Review Court to quash the criminal charges brought against former education minister Ruel Reid and President of the Caribbean Maritime University CMU Professor, Fritz Pinnock, is to be heard in the Supreme Court on December 18.

Attorney at law Hugh Wildman who is representing the men said the date for the application was set, Thursday.

Reid and pinnock are contending that the Financial Investigations Division FID brought charges against them against the advice of the Director of Public Prosecutions.  They contend further that the FID was not empowered to bring the charges against them.

Reid and Pinnock are facing corruption and fraud charges following investigations into allegations of corruption, fraud and misappropriation of public funds involving the Education Ministry and the CMU.    They are on bail and are to return to the ST Andrew parish court on January 23 next year.    Three others were charged Reid’s wife Sharen Reid , his daughter Sharelle and Councillor for the Brown’s Town Division Kim Brown Lawrence.
