Defending world T20 cricket champions, Windies women heads into camp

Defending world T20 cricket champions, Windies women will next week continue their preparations for the upcoming tournament to be staged in the Caribbean later this year.

The 2018 ICC women’s world twenty20 will be hosted in the West Indies from November 9 to 24 this year.

The high-performance Programme being rolled out by cricket west indies sees a 14-member women’s squad that will gather for a camp in Antigua from April 30- May 30 .

17-yr old Guyanese talented right-handed batter Shabika Gajnabi, will join this unit for the first time, while Felicia Walters who made her Windies women’s debut at the world cup last year, returns to the squad.

Windies women’s head coach, Henderson springer will be assisted by Stuart Williams, who previously worked as assistant coach of the windies women during the 50-overs world cup in 2017. The support team will also include a physiotherapist and strength and conditioning coach.

Kyshona knight and Afy Fletcher will miss the camp because of injury. Deandra Dottin is unavailable due to personal reasons.

The full squad reads: Stafanie Taylor, Anisa Mohammed, Shemaine Campbell, Shamilia Connell, Britney Cooper, Shabika Gajnabi, Kycia Knight, Hayley Matthews, Anisa Mohammed, Chedean Nation, Reniece Boyce, Felicia Walters, Akeira peters, Shekera Selman.
