Delano Seiveright, Senior strategist in the Tourism Ministry, could face legal implications following statements he made regarding Mood Fest 2021.

by June 2nd, 2021

In response to a comment from a social media user regarding the September party the Tourism policymaker maker in a series of tweets wrote, “prospective patrons should be cautious of innovative scams aimed at getting their money.” He continued by saying there are lots of scams re partying in Jamaica luring unsuspecting Americans.

Seiveright’s comments were met with disapproval from promoters of the festival whom in turn wrote to the Minister of Tourism asking for the withdrawal of the statements.

In responding to the comments, a hotel chain said to be the ones hosting the party also took the opportunity to distance itself from the festival stating they have no event agreement with the organisers of the festival and same will not be hosted on either of their properties.

Seiveright’s remarks came after nationwide outcry last week after scores of tourists breached COVID-19 guidelines at Rick’s Café in Negril for Mocha Fest 2021.

Mood Fest 2021 is slated to take place at a popular Montego Bay Hotel with performances from Rappers Trina, Hood Celebrity and over 28 others.
