Dottin, Taylor steer West Indies past winless Pakistan

The out of contention West Indies Women thanks, to Deandra Dottin’s first ODI century, beat Pakistan by 19 runs on the Duckworth/Lewis method to claim their second win at the 2017 ICC Women’s World Cup in England.

The Windies Women batting first piled up a challenging 285 for 4 from their 50 overs with Dottin blasting an unbeaten 104 from just 76 balls. The start of play had earlier been delayed by an hour.

She was assisted by captain Stafanie Taylor who fell 10 runs short of a century when she was dismissed for 90.

Pakistan’s revised target was 245 in 38 overs, however a combination of rain and quick wickets meant their innings was cut short on 117 for 3 – 19 short of the DLS par score in 24 overs. It was their 13th successive loss in a World Cup match.

Javeria Khan was unbeaten on 58 when rain interrupted the game for a third time. She added 80 with opener Nahida Khan before offspinner Anisa Mohammed dismissed the opener for 40. Thirteen balls later, Iram Javed, promoted ahead of Nain Abidi, holed out to extra cover off what turned out to be the last ball of the match.

Today’s result for the West Indies Women follows the 47 runs win over Sri Lanka on Sunday.

They however remain third from bottom on 4 points from 6 games.

They play their final game on Saturday when they face tournament host England at the County Ground in Bristol.
