Jamaica’s Elaine Thompson-Herah created history when she became the first woman to win back to back 100 and 200 meters gold medals in the modern Olympics.

Thompson-Herah sped to victory over 200 meters at the ongoing Tokyo Olympics in a new national record 21.53 seconds to go along with her 100 meters title she won on Friday; repeating her two wins in the same contests at the 2016 Rio Olympics.

Thompson-Herah’s time was the second-fastest performance by a woman in the 200 meters in Olympic history. Her time in the 100-meter sprint in Tokyo set an Olympic record in that event.

Namibian Christine Mboma took silver clocking a new world Under-20 record of 21.81, while Gabby Thomas of the U.S. rounded off the podium in third place clocking 21.87.

Jamaica’s Shelly-Ann Fraser Pryce who announced afterwards that this would be her final Olympic games was pipped for a medal placing fourth in 21.94 seconds.
