Director of Public Prosecutions, Paula Llewellyn has revealed details of the crown’s arguments in the murder trial involving dancehall artiste Ninjaman.

Ninja, whose real name is Desmond Ballentine, his son Janiel, along with Dennis Clayton were convicted in the home circuit court yesterday (Nov 20).

The crown’s arguments include claims that Ninja man and his son were seen with guns, and that the victim was chased then hit by a bullet which went through a zinc fence.

The two are accused of killing Ricardo Johnson also called Trooper, at his home, in March 2009.

Ninja man and Clayton have been found guilty of murder and shooting with intent, while Janiel was found guilty of murder.

They will be sentenced on December 15.

A social and enquiry report and antecedent have been ordered by the court.

Speaking with reporters yesterday following the conviction of the men, Ms. Llewellyn says the case was a difficult one, as the crown had to use circumstantial evidence.

Ms. Llewellyn says the killing of Johnson resulted from a domestic dispute involving tenants, one of whom is the partner of Clayton.

The DPP explains how Johnson was killed.

Meantime, Ms. Llewellyn has commended the prosecution’s team for the hard fought victory in the case.

She also thanked the Justice Ministry for assisting in bringing in two witnesses from abroad, one of whom is a police officer.
