DPP sends file on CMU / Ruel Reid to FID

by July 18th, 2019

Director of Public Prosecution Paula Llewellyn has indicated that based on its assessment of the allegations surrounding former education minister Ruel Reid and the Caribbean Maritime University, there were possible administrative breaches and conduct which may have contravened 4 criminal statues, in addition to possibly 2 common law offences.

The DPP indicated that her office provided the Financial Investigation Division with a detailed report which include legal opinion, guidance and recommendations.

The matter came to public attention after reports out of parliamentary committees, relating to claims of mismanagement and corruption, involving Reid, the Education Ministry and the CMU.

The FID has indicated that following receipt of the DPP’s report further investigations will be conducted.
