Member of Parliament for North West St. Ann, Dr. Dayton Campbell, says even if drainage systems in some communities were cleaned days before, they would have still been flooded, after heavy rains.
Several sections of the constituency were impacted by floods yesterday (Jan 4), mostly in Runaway Bay, and Discovery Bay.
Dr. Campbell has been visiting the affected areas, conducting an assessment.
He says the drains were blocked with silt, large boulders, and vegetation, which were washed down from the hills.
Dr. Campbell says, efforts are being made to clear affected areas.
He adds that assistance will be sought from the relevant agencies, to repair roadways which have been damaged.
