Jamaican-born German tennis player Dustin Brown is through to the final round of qualifying for the men’s singles event at the Australian Open.
He made progress after battling to a hard-fought 3-6, 6-4, 7-6 win over China’s Di Wu yesterday.
A packed court 5 witnessed a high-velocity encounter which culminated in a thrilling tie-break, after which brown walked off to a standing ovation.
The 33-year-old’s reward is a tussle for a main draw ticket with 18-year-old American Stefan Kozlov.
Kozlov who saved match points in his opening-round triumph over Australian Blake Ellis, was once again pushed the distance before prevailing 4-6, 7-6,6-4 against German Yannick Hanfmann.
