The Education and Health Ministries are discussing the guidelines for students sitting external exams who test positive for COVID-19.

Health Minister, Dr. Christopher Tufton says Education Minister, Fayval Williams is to tell the nation soon, about the Ministry’s position on the sitting of exams and the protocols involved.

Thousands of students are sitting examinations administered by the Caribbean Examination Council in the coming days.

Ms. Williams says the Ministry is working to ensure that students who test positive for COVID-19 are able to do their tests.

Schools will be given guidance as quickly as possible.

She says there has been an increase in the number of persons within the school space, who have tested positive for COVID-19 or are suspected to have the illness.

Mrs. Williams said the increase has been noticed over the past 2 to 3 weeks.

She says the Ministry will continue to get reports on a weekly basis to monitor and provide guidance for schools.

Some schools have resorted to remote learning following recent suspected or confirmed cases of COVID-19.
