There were two victories for Jamaican athletes today at the IAAF meeting in Great Britain.

This after double Olympic champion Elaine Thompson and commonwealth gold medalist Stephanie Ann McPherson won their respective events.

Thompson after finishing second in her heat later returned to win the women’s 60 meters in a sizzling 7.13 seconds in what was a blanket finish.

Asha Phillip of Great Britain was second in 7.14 seconds, with the favourite Marie- Josee Ta lou of the Ivory Coast third in 7.15 seconds.

McPherson won the women’s 400 metres in 52.24 seconds, ahead of Eilidh Doyle of Great Britain 52.43 with Lissanne de Witte of Netherlands third after crossing the line in 52.61 seconds.

Earlier Julian forte failed to advance to the final of the men’s 60 metres after finishing last in his heat  in 6.74 seconds
